15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history after becoming the youngest-ever Indian cricketer to get the opportunity to represent the senior men's national cricket team. The teen cricketing prodigy from Bihar has officially surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's age record.

Sooryavanshi is coming off a historic performance in the 2026 Indian Premier League with the Rajasthan Royals, and several experts had backed him to make his India debut as soon as possible.

Vaibhav receives well-deserved India call-up

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the Men in Blue's squad for the upcoming T20 series against Ireland and England, as well as the subsequent Asian Games in Japan.

With Shreyas Iyer named as Suryakumar Yadav’s successor as T20I captain, Vaibhav also earned selection for all three tours, becoming the youngest player to be picked in the Indian men’s squad.

Vaibhav coming off a record-breaking IPL season

Vaibhav received major recognition on his IPL debut season last year, displaying his trademark aggressive intensity as an opener for RR. His breakthrough moment came in the 2026 season when he smashed 776 runs in 16 innings at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 237.70.

While Rajasthan were eliminated in the playoffs, Sooryavanshi wrapped up the season as the tournament's MVP, the Emerging Player of the season and the orange cap winner for scoring the most runs in a single season. He also broke major IPL records, solidifying his status as one of the fastest-rising T20 cricketing sensations globally.
