Samsung has announced that its highly anticipated new Galaxy Z series foldable smartphones are now available for pre-order in India, starting today. Unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event, the lineup includes the Galaxy Z Fold8, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra for advanced productivity and content creation, and the Galaxy Z Flip8, Samsung's slimmest flip smartphone to date.

One of the biggest highlights this year is Samsung's focus on offering distinct form factors tailored to different users, while deeply integrating its Galaxy AI suite across the lineup. On the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the larger displays are designed to enhance multitasking, productivity and content creation. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip8 places AI at the centre of the experience through its redesigned FlexWindow, bringing key information and shortcuts to the cover display. Galaxy AI, powered in part by Google Gemini, adds a wide range of intelligent features across all three devices.

Galaxy Z Fold8: A foldable built for immersive viewing

The Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201g, making it Samsung's lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet, while retaining a 4,800mAh battery. It features a 10:16 cover display for everyday tasks and a 4:3 foldable main display designed for gaming, video playback and reading. Samsung has also introduced a new Flex Titanium display structure to improve durability while reducing crease visibility.

The main display reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and is complemented by Vision Booster and a low-reflection coating for improved outdoor visibility. For photography, the Fold8 features a dual 50MP rear camera system along with features such as Dual Recording, which captures footage from both sides of the device, and My FanCam, which automatically tracks subjects and reframes videos into the preferred aspect ratio.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: Built for creators and power users

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an 8-inch foldable display and measures just 4.1mm when unfolded, making it Samsung's slimmest Fold device yet. Weighing 215g, it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging.

The device is equipped with a 200MP primary camera with HDR support, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, enhanced Nightography and support for 8K video recording. Samsung has also introduced Cine LUT editing tools, allowing users to perform more advanced colour grading directly on the device.

Galaxy Z Flip8: An AI-native flip experience

Samsung has redesigned the Galaxy Z Flip8 around its new FlexWindow, making the cover display the centre of the user experience. The device weighs just 180g and measures only 6.1mm thick, making it Samsung's slimmest and lightest flip smartphone to date.

The AI-native FlexWindow brings contextual information, intelligent suggestions and key actions directly to the cover display without requiring users to unfold the device. The Now Brief feature provides personalised updates and recommended next steps, helping users move quickly from information to action.

The flip form factor also enables hands-free photography. The Galaxy Z Flip8 features a 50MP camera powered by Samsung's ProVisual Engine, delivering improved selfies with enhanced detail, natural skin tones, dynamic background blur and better overall image quality.

AI and security

Samsung has also expanded its AI and security capabilities across the new Galaxy Z series. Every device is protected by Samsung Knox, which adopts a multi-layered security approach featuring user-controlled cloud processing and ecosystem-wide protection through Knox Matrix.

The company has also introduced Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, which creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments, while Knox Vault adds a tamper-resistant hardware layer to secure sensitive data. These features are designed to give users greater control over how AI features access and process personal information.

One UI 9 introduces a new AI Assistant Dashboard that provides a centralised view of AI-powered automations. Users can review AI actions in one place, jump directly to the relevant AI agent for additional context and adjust settings whenever required.

Samsung has also added new privacy alerts that notify users about potentially unnecessary attempts by apps to access background permissions, further strengthening transparency around AI-powered experiences.
