Apple's biggest Mac refresh in years could bring 11 new models: Report

Amid its broader product overhaul, Apple is reportedly preparing to refresh every Mac it sells over the next two years, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The ambitious roadmap comes as the Mac business enjoys a resurgence, with sales projected to grow for a third consecutive year, driven in part by increasing demand from users relying on the machines for AI-powered and other compute-intensive workloads.

The refresh cycle is expected to begin this fall with an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and the first new iMac models in nearly two years. From redesigned MacBook Pros and refreshed MacBook Air models to upgraded Mac mini and Mac Studio desktops, here's everything reportedly in Apple's Mac pipeline.

Apple is reportedly preparing one of its most extensive Mac refresh cycles in years, with updates planned across the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio lineup through 2028.

The roadmap is expected to begin in fall 2026 with an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by Apple's next-generation M6 chip, alongside the first iMac refresh in nearly two years. Apple is also said to be testing new Mac mini models with M5 Pro and M6 chips, as well as updated Mac Studio configurations featuring M5 Max and M5 Ultra processors, although the launch timing for both machines may depend on memory supply.

Toward the end of 2026 or early 2027, Apple is reportedly planning a major redesign for its high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The laptops are expected to feature OLED displays for the first time, alongside M5 Pro and M5 Max chip options.

The refresh cycle is set to continue into 2027, with updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models arriving early in the year, followed by a redesigned entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the standard M7 chip. Apple is also said to be working on a refreshed budget laptop, tentatively referred to as the MacBook Neo, which could feature an A19 Pro chip, additional memory and new colour options.

Apple is expected to launch another generation of high-end MacBook Pro models between late 2027 and early 2028, upgrading to M7 Pro and M7 Max processors. The company is also reportedly developing OLED versions of the MacBook Air and iMac, with the MacBook Air expected to arrive no earlier than 2028, extending OLED display technology across more of Apple's Mac lineup.

New products to Ship around Fall

Development of the refreshed iMac and the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is reportedly complete, although the new machines are not expected to ship until the fall. The report also says Apple is internally testing its redesigned high-end MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen on macOS 27.1, which is scheduled for release by the end of October.

Meanwhile, demand continues to outpace supply for several current Mac models. According to the report, new orders for some existing machines are facing shipping delays of at least three months, and it could take that long for supply and demand to return to a more balanced level.
