Players of India and England wore black armbands and held a minute's silence at Lord’s Cricket Ground ahead of the third ODI to honour legendary West Indies all‑rounder Sir Garfield Sobers.

Players of India and England lined up at Lord's Cricket Ground ahead of the third ODI match to honour Sir Garfield Sobers, one of the greatest cricketers of all time, who helped redefine the game in the 90s with his unmatched all-round skills.
Sobers, one of the finest all-rounders who helped revolutionise West Indies cricket as one of the feared sides during his active days, passed away at age 89 on Friday. He breathed his last at his home in Barbados.
Upon his passing, the cricketing fraternity paid homage, with stars such as Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar among others sharing humble messages for the former all-rounder.
Lord's holds a minute's silence to honour Sobers
Before the IND vs END 3rd ODI began, players of both teams and the match officials observed a minute's silence to honour the legacy of Sobers. The cricketers also wore black armbands as a mark of respect.
Fans attending the match in London also joined in to honour the late cricketer.
The BCCI paid tribute to Sir Garfield Sobers with a special video and announced that Indian cricketers would wear armbands to commemorate the legendary West Indies all‑rounder.
"Team India is wearing black armbands to pay tribute to West Indies legend Sir Garfield Sobers following his passing on Friday," the board wrote on 'X'.
England win toss, opt to bat first vs India
England won the toss and opted to bat first in the third ODI. Team India's playing XI did not feature Jasprit Bumrah, who was not available for the match due to 'reactive swelling on his left knee' after suffering an impact injury in the preceding match.
