GT get another shot at reaching the final after their 92-run thrashing at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala on Tuesday.

RR, meanwhile, have won all four games that they have played in New Chandigarh since the venue made its debut back in 2024, which makes them slight favourites heading into Qualifier 2 at the same venue on Friday.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had won each of their last six meetings against Rajasthan Royals, including in Qualifier 2 two years ago. RR, however, end their losing streak against the ‘Orange Army’ in dominant fashion, and live to fight another day in the 19th season.

And fittingly, it’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who collects the catch to seal RR’s victory after smashing 97 off just 29 balls earlier in the day! Sushant Mishra grabs the final wicket, with Shivang Kumar falling for 27 off 24. SRH 196 in 19.2

Brijesh concedes just four in the penultimate over which includes a waist-high full toss that the Royals unsuccessfully attempt to review. Shivang’s batting on 27, and will be hoping to score big in the final over. SRH 195/9

Shivang pulls a short ball from Brijesh down the ground, but doesn’t set off for the non-striker’s end after the ball falls short of Ferreira at long on. Instead, he’s lying on the ground, appearing to suffer from cramps which leads to a stoppage in play as the all-rounder gets some treatment. SRH 191/9 in 18.1; target: 244

Malinga becomes the latest Sunrisers batter to depart, offering Archer a simple catch at mid off after a mishit off Nandre Burger’s bowling. Second wicket for the South African pacer, who has been economical today. SRH 187/9 in 17.3; target: 244

Shivang decides to have some fun at the expense of Rajasthan’s lead pacer, collecting three boundaries in four deliveries. A frustrated Archer ends the over with a dot after firing a quick delivery outside off. 16 from Archer’s final over. But that doesn’t overshadow the fact that his triple-strike in the powerplay virtually sealed the contest in his team’s favour. SRH 185/8 in 17; target: 244

The leg-spinner finishes his spell on a tidy note by conceding just nine runs in his last two overs. Shivang Kumar is batting on 10 with Eshan Malinga for company, and while the former can swing the bat, it would be too much to expect him to steer his team past the finish line from here. Arora smashes Jadeja for a six over long on in the third delivery of the veteran left-arm spinner’s third over, but perishes the very next ball. Salil attempts to heave the ball over deep extra cover, but ends up offering Burger a simple catch well in front of the boundary rope. Rajasthan Royals are now two wickets away from victory. Yash Raj Punja returns to the attack, and concedes just five in his third over, nearly getting rid of the well-set Salil in the second delivery after ball falls in no man’s land near extra cover following a mishit. SRH 153/7 in 14; need 91 off 36

Mishra closes out his second over on a tidy note, conceding just six runs after dismissing Cummins, including a wide. Jadeja continues from the other end and concedes just three singles. The Sunrisers are scoring at over 11 an over but have collected just 16 runs in the last three overs for the loss of two wickets, including that of Reddy, their last hope. The ‘Orange Army’ need 96 from 42 with just three wickets in hand, which will be too much for Salil despite being fairly set on 26 off 15.

Cummins (1 off 2) departs just two balls after Reddy, heaving a short-of-length ball outside off towards wide long on where the ball would have just about cleared the rope had Archer not been running to his right. The Barbadian-born English pacer manages to grab the ball with just foot just inside the line. SRH 139/7 in 11.1; target: 244

This could be the game for the Sunrisers, with the Royals now having one foot in Qualifier 2! Jadeja is introduced for the first time after the halfway stage and instantly starts building pressure by conceding just five runs in the first four deliveries. Reddy attempts to break the shackles by attempting to heave a flat delivery towards deep midwicket, only to get caught by Shanaka near the boundary. SRH 137/6 in 10.5; target: 244

Salil decides to shift gears in the 10th over, smashing Brijesh for a six and a four in the first two deliveries by clearing deep square leg and deep midwicket respectively. He later collects a boundary in the penultimate delivery to bring up the fifty partnership in just 18 deliveries! SRH 132/5 in 10; need 112 off 60

Punja concedes 18 in his second over after getting struck for a four and two consecutive sixes by Reddy. The all-rounder brings up SRH’s 100 with a four in the third delivery, steering a short ball down the ground. He then clears deep midwicket with a powerful hit in the penultimate delivery before targeting the opposite boundary with a reverse-slog – the shot that had Klaasen dismissed shortly after powerplay – that clears third man with ease. Timeout signalled at the end of the ninth over. The Sunrisers have a faint chance with Reddy around, although the Royals still are overwhelming favourites to advance. SRH 114/5 in 9; target: 244

Left-arm seamer Sushant Mishra is introduced for the first time in the eighth over, and Nitish Reddy welcomes him with back-to-back fours, smacking a short, wide ball outside off through the covers and slapping a similar delivery down the ground next up. Three singles and a brace collected in the remaining deliveries with 13 coming off the over. Reddy is off to a promising start, and might just give the Royals a scare from here if he’s able to convert this into a big knock. SRH 96/5 in 8; target: 244

Rajasthan Royals have taken a step closer to victory after youngster Yash Raj Punja dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen. Klaasen attempted an ambitious reverse-slog against the spinner but missed the ball completely, and RR immediately went upstairs after the on-field umpire turned down the appeal. Ball-tracking confirmed the delivery would have crashed into the stumps. RR are now in full control of the knockout clash.

Heinrich Klaasen is trying to rebuild the innings for SRH after a disastrous powerplay. SRH reached 71/4 after 6 overs, still needing 173 runs from 84 balls, with Klaasen unbeaten on 11 off 7 balls. SRH suffered an early collapse in their chase of 244, and now need a big effort from Klaasen and other lower-order batters to stay alive in this match.

With Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan already back in the pavilion, the responsibility now falls on Heinrich Klaasen to keep SRH alive in their massive chase of 244. Klaasen has been one of SRH’s most consistent and destructive batters this season, and the team will now hope he can produce another special innings under pressure to keep the side alive for Qualifier 2.

Jofra Archer is producing a sensational spell for Rajasthan Royals, removing another dangerous batter in Travis Head. Just after Head smashed a boundary, Archer responded with a beauty that crashed into the stumps and sent the SRH opener back for 17 off 8 balls. Archer had already dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan earlier in the powerplay. RR are now on top and favourites to reach the Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans.

SRH are in deeper trouble in their massive chase of 244 after losing another quick wicket. Nandre Burger dismissed Smaran for just 1 run after the batter mistimed an attempted big shot straight towards mid-on to Jofra Archer. After the aggressive start from Ishan Kishan and Travis Head following Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal, RR have pulled things back and are on top.

Jofra Archer has struck again, ending Ishan Kishan’s explosive knock. After being hammered for boundaries and sixes earlier in the over, Archer responded with a fiery delivery and forced Kishan to mistime a cut shot straight to Donovan Ferreira at cover. Kishan walked back after a stunning 33 off just 11 balls.

Ishan Kishan is playing a sensational counter-attacking knock. He hammered Jofra Archer for two sixes and a boundary in the over. The biggest moment came when Ravindra Jadeja missed a tough chance near the boundary rope off Kishan’s top edge.

Travis Head has announced himself in style after Ishan Kishan’s early assault, with SRH flying to 35/1 after 2 overs in their chase of 244 against RR. Head smashed Nandre Burger for a six and a boundary in a 19-run over.

Ishan Kishan has launched a strong counter-attack for SRH after the early wicket of Abhishek Sharma in their huge chase of 244 against RR. Kishan smashed Jofra Archer for 16 runs in the opening over, including a six and two boundaries, to keep the aggressive approach despite losing Abhishek for a duck. SRH moved to 16/1 in 1 over.

Excellent final over from Sakib Hussain, with just five runs being added to the Royals total, including a couple of byes. It’s a massive total, especially for a knockout game, but keep in mind the fact that this is a batting paradise and RR are at least 20 runs short. They had breached the 200-mark in the 15th over, but could manage just 36 in their last five for the loss of five wickets, including a couple of run-outs. Ravindra Jadeja remains unbeaten on 12 off 9 and will surely feel he would have got the team past 250 at the very least.

It’s a proper collapse at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium at the moment, with Nandre Burger getting run-out at the striker’s end after being needlessly pushed for a risky second run. Jadeja, for some reason, decides to head back to the non-striker’s end despite being the recognised batter in the middle. Burger’s run-out in his very first ball, having completed a single on the way. RR 240/8 in 19.2
