Rajasthan Royals sealed a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati, chasing down 128 in just 12.1 overs to kick off their IPL 2026 campaign in style. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started from where he left last season and a finish from Yashasvi Jaiswal ensured RR cruised home easily.

Felt the conditions at the start were tough, especially against Jofra. It was tough against medium pacers, spinners were getting assistance as well. Maybe we could’ve batted deeper but you never know a good score these days so had to keep going. You just put it behind and move on. Next game in three days. Lots of youngsters in the group, nervy start but good to get a game behind. I’m not a firm believer of going all out all the way, but you don’t know the par score with the impact player. It was about backing yourself and the game for the batters, have to go for it if it’s there.

Bowling change as Noor Ahmad comes into the attack. Yashasvi Jaiswal goes for a switch hit on the first ball, but everyone misses it and RR earn four byes. A dot ball and a single and Sooryavanshi does what he does best. Two long-on sixes vs Noor Ahmad. Fifty runs completed by Sooryavanshi in just 15 balls. He has a strike rate of 325.

BTW, fifty run partnership is done. Fifth 50-run partnership between Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi in just eight innings.

Pacer Anshul Kamboj starts with a beautiful delivery. The ball nips away as Jaiswal is beaten trying to play a drive. Next ball fetches a single before Sooryavanshi cuts a short of length ball to the short third man fence for a four. Another four due to an inside edge. One dot ball and then Sooryavanshi unleashes a six down the long-on fence. This is pure Sooryavanshi knock. He never holds back. Only looking to play big shots.

Single by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on the first ball. Next delivery is a bit fuller from Khaleel and Yashasvi Jaiswal frees his arms with a delightful shot down the ground. Good comeback by Khaleel as he bowls three consecutive dot balls, followed by a single to end the over.

A bit better over for Matt Henry, who mixes it up with some slow balls. Sooryavanshi mistimed a slice shot, but it fell short of the deep backward-point fielder. He attempted the same shot later and blasted the ball for a six over point. RR 34-0(3). Rajasthan Royals need 94 runs.

RR have got 24 in just the first two overs. One boundary in the over for Sooryavanshi who slices the final ball by Khaleel for a four at point. He also survived an LBW appeal on the first delivery as the ball was missing the leg stump.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fails to connect to the inswinging ball from Khaleel, who appeals vehemently. He forced CSK skipper Ruturaj to take DRS, but the ball was missing the stumps.

Pink looks good on me. I know Dube for a long period, was bowling to him the nets, knew what he’ll do. I bowled outside off, knew he’ll play big shots. Wicket was sticky, odd ball was turning. Job was to put the ball in the right areas, wicket was doing its thing. You can’t take anything for granted in cricket. Have to play good shots regardless of the target.
