Hardik Pandya to CSK? R Ashwin’s cryptic '07:07' hint triggers blockbuster transfer chatter
Hardik Pandya's cryptic '07:07' post triggered a major storm, and R Ashwin added fuel to the fire after making a similar reference while suggesting the key inclusions an IPL franchise needed to make ahead of the 2027 season.

Former India cricketer R Ashwin has stirred a debate by suggesting a blockbuster trade involving all-rounder Hardik Pandya moving to the Chennai Super Kings after the franchise failed to secure a playoff spot in the IPL 2026 season.
Following the Mumbai Indians' defeat to the Rajasthan Royals, Hardik sparked intrigue by posting an Instagram story showing a phone with the timestamp '07:07' in pink.
The 07:07 appeared to be a nod to MS Dhoni's iconic jersey number, igniting speculation of a switch to the five-time champions. But the pink colour denotes the Rajasthan Royals' jersey palette, which hinted at a potential move to the inaugural champions.
Ashwin triggers Hardik to CSK chatter
On Tuesday, R Ashwin added fuel to the fire by referencing '07:07' while responding to a fan's question on 'X'. When asked whether CSK should pursue Matheesha Pathirana if KKR released him after an injury-hit campaign, Ashwin outlined three names he believes could reinforce the squad, naming Pathirana, Hardik, and Ben Stokes.
"Pathirana, 07:07 & Stokes! Opening ✓ Dube & 07:07 MiddleOrder/Finishing ✓ Overton & Stokes Balance ✓," Ashwin wrote on social media.
The '07:07' in Ashwin’s tweet was widely interpreted as a nod to Hardik, while his mention of Stokes pointed to potential long-term balance for the 2027 season.

CSK expected to undergo an overhaul?
CSK endured a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign, which has intensified scrutiny about what the road ahead holds for them. After finishing eighth in the 2026 standings and missing the playoffs for a third consecutive year, the pressure remains on the team management, including head coach Stephen Fleming, to determine their next course of action.
Meanwhile, MI batting coach Kieron Pollard remained tight-lipped about Hardik’s future as captain, generating further speculation over a major shake-up among franchises ahead of the 2027 season.
