WTC Points Table: Australia further consolidate themselves at No 1 spot after 4-1 Ashes victory over struggling England
ICC WTC Points Table: Australia continue to enjoy a healthy lead at the top of the 2025-27 World Test Championship table after retaining the Ashes urn in dominant fashion at home, which leaves England facing the prospect of missing out on yet another final. Check out the full standings below.
The 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship got underway in June last year with Sri Lanka hosting Bangladesh in a two-Test series, Australia head to the Caribbean for a three-match series against West Indies and England hosting India for a five-match affair for the inaugural Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. This was after South Africa defeated Australia in the final of the 2023-25 World Test Championship at Lord's by five wickets, having previously finished on top of the table.
The Temba Bavuma-led Proteas thus became the third different team to lift the ICC Test mace after New Zealand (2021) and Australia (2023). What's more, last year's final at the 'Home of Cricket' marked the first time India failed to qualify for the summit clash, having lost to the Black Caps as well as the Aussies in the two previous finals in Southampton and at The Oval respectively.

Australia remain at the top, England appear set to miss another final
The latest edition of the Ashes concluded on Thursday, 8 January with Australia completing a 4-1 triumph over England in the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground after being set 160 to win on the final day. The Aussies have held the urn continuously for eight years now and had retained it with a hat-trick of victories in just 11 days of play – which included an eight-wicket thrashing of the Ben Stokes-led visitors in the series opener in Perth.

The Aussies continue to lead the table with points percentage (PCT) of 87.50, having won seven out of the eight matches that they have played so far this cycle and lost just one – against England in the 'Boxing Day Test' in Melbourne. New Zealand and South Africa sit at the second and third spots respectively with PCTs of 77.78 and 75 respectively, with Sri Lanka (66.67) at the fourth position.
India currently are sixth on the table, below arch-rivals Pakistan, with a PCT of 48.15. They had begun their campaign with a 2-2 draw in England and later whitewashed West Indies 2-0 at home. A 0-2 sweep against South Africa – their second home Test whitewash in the span of a year – however, has cast a shadow on their chances of making it to the 2027 WTC final.
