Virat Kohli ruled out of India's ODI series vs Afghanistan due to injury: BCCI source
India will be without star batter Virat Kohli during the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which will be played from 13 June.

Virat Kohli is set to miss the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan due to an injury, news agency PTI reported on Thursday. The three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan will be played from 13 June.
The former India captain Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury, a BCCI source told PTI.
Kohli out of IND vs AFG ODIs
"He is out of the ODI series due to a hamstring injury," a BCCI source said.
Kohli's absence can prove to be a double whammy for Team India as Rohit Sharma's availability is also unclear due to an injury he suffered during the IPL 2026. However, it will be a golden opportunity for Indian youngsters to prove their worth.
Meanwhile, it's still not clear when and where Kohli suffered the hamstring injury, but it very well could have happened during the 2026 IPL final on 31 May at the Narednra modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Kohli had made 75 not out in the chase as Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets to win a second consecutive IPL trophy. Overall in the IPL 2026, Kohli amassed 675 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 166.
"Well, it’s the stuff that you dream of," Kohli said after winning his second IPL title. "I’ve thought of this moment many times, that, you know, once when we win the IPL, I should be standing there hitting the winning runs and tonight it was possible. So yeah, just a dream day for us."
On his batting heroics at 37, Kohli said: "I just take a lot of pride in getting better and just trying to figure out areas where I can improve. So yeah, it was just a case of the demands of today’s modern game where you need to get those 20, 30 extra runs. And I had to kind of change my mindset, not my game so much to hit the shots I hit, but more often and take the bowlers on, probably the best bowlers in the opposition. That was always my target. So very happy I was able to contribute towards the team cause."
The BCCI has not yet released anything officially on Kohli's injury or absence.
