Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's parents arrive in Belfast, check into Team India hotel ahead of Ireland T20s | WATCH

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's parents arrived in Belfast on Wednesday, where Team India would be in action against Ireland, to accompany their 15-year-old kid amid major anticipation over his potential debut for the Men in Blue in T20 international cricket.

The teen cricketing phenomenon was named in India's squad for the upcoming T20 tours in Ireland and England, becoming the youngest Indian cricketer to receive their maiden national call-up.

Vaibhav is coming off a breakout IPL season in 2026, in which he won the Orange Cap award with 776 runs at a strike rate of 237.30. The left-hander's batting heroics helped him earn a spot in the senior team.

Vaibhav's parents check in at Belfast before Ireland T20s

Vaibhav’s parents were spotted entering Team India’s hotel in Belfast after arriving in Northern Ireland, with the video quickly going viral on social media and fueling speculation that the 15-year-old could be on the verge of a historic debut.

The BCCI had earlier revealed that Vaibhav would be accompanied by his parents, with secretary Devajit Saikia emphasising that having his parents by his side would provide valuable support to the 15-year-old during the tour. Vaibhav's parents would be with him on the England tour as well, and the board would cover all expenses.

Vaibhav recently delivered a record-setting performance at the one-day tri-national series final. While representing India A, he smashed the fastest List-A fifty in cricket history for India after scoring 94 off just 29 deliveries.

ECB to make exception for Vaibhav during England T20s

With the BCCI permitting Vaibhav’s parents to accompany him on overseas tours and stay at the team hotel, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed it would make an exception to its usual protocol for the 15-year-old. The ECB noted that the family's presence would provide Vaibhav with the support and care he needs during the series.

"It is our understanding that the player’s parents will be travelling with him at all times. They are staying in the same hotel, which is outside general protocol, but agreed for this occasion due to his age. This additional measure provides us with further confidence that he has family members that can provide the additional level of support and care,"  the ECB said, as quoted by The Guardian.

Additionally, the ICC and ECB's standard safeguarding rules require players under the age of 16 to use separate changing facilities from their adult teammates, and Vaibhav would have to follow the same.

Team India will face Ireland in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on May 26 and 28, before travelling to England for the five-match T20 series, starting July 1.
