Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is very close to making his international debut for India, with reports suggesting he could feature in the T20I series against Ireland starting this Friday. The 15-year-old youngster got a special moment on Tuesday when the BCCI officially handed him his India jersey for the first time.

The video shared by the BCCI showed Sooryavanshi wearing the India blue and struggling to hide his emotions. He looked completely overwhelmed as his long journey from a young cricketer to the national team reached a major milestone.

“Words cannot explain it. The reason I picked up a bat from day one and went to the cricket ground for practice, today that dream was fulfilled. The biggest step towards that journey was completed today. I truly cannot put this feeling into words. I felt like a dream,” Sooryavanshi said.

“The moment I saw that T-shirt, I couldn’t stop smiling. Sometimes, something happens that you never even imagined could happen. And when it finally does, you don’t know how to react. That was exactly how I felt,” he added.

The BCCI video also captured a heartwarming moment when team throwdown specialist Raghu knocked on his door to handover the box. Sooryavanshi greeted him by touching his feet before opening the jersey box, holding it and staring at it for a long time.

The teenager has earned his maiden India call-up after a record-breaking IPL 2026 season where he scored 776 runs and became the youngest Orange Cap winner, finishing ahead of superstars like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul. He even came close to breaking the IPL fastest century record.

If he makes his debut as expected, Sooryavanshi could also enter the history books by becoming the youngest player ever to represent India, going past even Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record.
