Vaibhav Sooryavanshi echoes another Sachin Tendulkar’s early career story ahead of historic India debut
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is all set for his India debut on the Ireland and England tours, with the 15-year-old IPL sensation expected to break Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record. Ahead of the historic moment, there is a new parallel that has emerged, connecting the two players in another unique way.

15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on the verge of a historic milestone as he prepares for his senior India debut. He received his maiden call-up for the white-ball tours of Ireland and England, and is set to make his debut there.
If Sooryavanshi makes his senior debut in either of the upcoming series, he will break a long-standing record previously held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, adding another remarkable chapter to his early rise in cricket.
Sooryavanshi earned his India selection after a sensational IPL 2026 season, where he stunned everyone by becoming the youngest-ever Orange Cap winner. His consistency and explosive stroke play made him the standout player in the tournament, forcing selectors to fast-track his entry into the national setup.
However, ahead of his much-awaited debut, reports suggest there will be special arrangements in place for the teenager in Ireland and England. According to reports, Sooryavanshi will have to use a separate dressing room due to safeguarding regulations for children in those countries.
While he will still be allowed inside the senior India dressing room for team meetings, match discussions, etc, he will not be permitted to change clothes alongside other players. Instead, he may use a separate designated area or follow different changing timings under the supervision of his parents.
Sooryavanshi-Tendulkar parallel
Interestingly, this situation has drawn parallels with a lesser-known episode from Sachin Tendulkar’s early career. When Tendulkar was just 15, he faced a similar restriction during his time with the Cricket Club of India.
According to Cricinfo, CCI's age restriction rules meant he could not enter the men's dressing room areas reserved for senior players over the age of 18. However, an exception was eventually made for Tendulkar, making him a rare case in the club’s history.
Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi's parents have traveled with him to Ireland and have reportedly been allowed to stay at the same hotel due to his young age.
The first T20I against Ireland is scheduled to be held on June 26, and Sooryavanshi will be 15 years and 91 days old if he gets his debut cap tomorrow. Tendulkar was 16 years and 205 days old when he made his India debut.
