It has been a nightmare run for Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. In stark contrast to his dominant outings for Team India in the T20 World Cup and their previous campaigns, the ace speedster has struggled to make an impact for the Mumbai Indians.

Bumrah's woes hit rock bottom during the MI vs LSG match in Mumbai when he delivered a couple of no-balls in the 14th over of the first innings on Monday, enraging former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.

The legendary batter snapped at the Indian pacer for making inexcusable actions during a crucial stage of the game.

Gavaskar slams Bumrah over bowling inconsistencies

Notably, Bumrah had dismissed Himmat Singh in the 14th over, but it turned out to be a no-ball, and the batter struck an unbeaten 40 off 31 deliveries.

Gavaskar expressed frustration over Bumrah and said that delivering no-balls as a professional cricketer is inexcusable and no bowler should be committing them.

Do not tell me again. Do not tell me. Do not tell me that Bumrah has bowled a no-ball. That is not acceptable. That is not acceptable. You are a professional cricketer; it is not acceptable. Wides, yes, I understand, but no balls, no,Gavaskar said while on air.

Bumrah endures one of his most challenging IPL seasons

The IPL 2026 season has been the toughest for Bumrah, as a string of no-balls and his inability to take wickets have put him under intense criticism despite having a decent economy. The pacer has picked up just three wickets in ten matches.

While his class remains unquestioned, one key reason behind Bumrah's collapse could be fatigue, which has left the franchise languishing in ninth place.

MI's overall struggles have also added extra pressure on the seamer, which may limit his effectiveness.

The five-time champions salvaged a six-wicket victory last night and picked up two points. Openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton displayed unmatched composure and persistence to help chase down the steep 229-run target, but the bowlers were ineffective during LSG's innings.
