A sequence of events not many would have envisioned occurred during the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) 2024 match between Khiladi XI and Master's XI at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane. One of the greatest batters ever to play the game, Sachin Tendulkar was surprisingly dismissed by Munawar Faruqui, the winner of Bigg Boss 17. The ISPL, which merges entertainment and cricket, saw teams led by Tendulkar and Bollywood star Akshay Kumar.

During the 5th over of the match, Tendulkar, who was flying high at 30 runs from just 16 deliveries, took on the second delivery of Faruqui's first over. Tendulkar looked to flick a delivery but could not time the shot properly and as a result he was caught by wicketkeeper Naman Ojha.

The viral video of Tendulkar’s unexpected dismissal by Faruqui has left fans amused. Tendulkar opened the batting along with Amir Hussain Lone, captain of J&K's para-cricket team. Tendulkar had earlier expressed admiration for Lone's remarkable skill and determination despite all his disabilities. Tendulkar had recently met Lone during his visit to Kashmir. Suresh Raina was at the crease when Tendulkar left the field. Khiladi XI lost the match by 5 runs as they could not chase the Master's XI total of 95 runs in 10 overs.

There were hilarious comments on social media. One of the social users said, “Koi bt ni. Who legend ha, [No problem. He was a legend].”

Another felt that the video was, “AI-generated.”

What is ISPL?

The ISPL is a T10 cricket tournament that comprises six teams owned by actors from the Indian film industry. It has promised an exciting blend of cricket and entertainment. The league has already seen celebrities, such as Sachin Tendulkar joining Akshay Kumar, Ram Charan and Suriya, getting engaged.

The inaugural edition of ISPL will be played from March 6th to March 15th, 2024. Mumbai will be the venue for this new-age cricket entertainment, with six teams representing cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar. Teams are owned by celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan, among others.
