Delhi Capitals' KL Rahul proved himself as one of the most dependable batters in Indian cricket after bringing up a record-setting 152* against the Punjab Kings. In the sweltering heat of Delhi, the opening batter put up a phenomenal knock to bring up his hundred with ease.

Rahul made use of the dropped chance by Shashank Singh and continued his batting masterclass as he toyed with the PBKS bowlers in match one of the Saturday doubleheader in Delhi. KL's knock also helped him secure a major accomplishment in the history of the IPL.

KL Rahul carried the momentum ahead and remained unbeaten in the first innings, smashing 152 off 67 balls. He is the only Indian batter and the third overall batter to score 150+ runs in the Indian Premier League. Only Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle have done it in the past, and KL has now joined the elite ranks.

Following the knock, KL Rahul expressed his delight at DC securing a big score and admitted that he had taken a beating due to the heat. The opener also healed laurels over Nitish Rana's power-packed knock and said that the right-left combination worked well for them.

"Obviously happy that we got 260. But the heat.. I've obviously taken a beating. Phenomenal knock from Nitish. Right-hand-left-hand combination worked as well. The wicket was on the slower side. Towards the end, I was pre-meditating. For the first 70-80 runs, I wasn't pre-meditating. My strength is to play proper shots," KL Rahul said during the innings break.

KL Rahul and Nitish Rana's brawny partnership helped the Delhi Capitals score 264/2 against the Punjab Kings, setting up a 265-run target to win.
