ICC World Test Championship standings: India go second after winning second Test vs England
India propelled themselves to second from fifth in the ICC World Test Championship standings with a 106-run win against England.
India moved up to second spot in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings following their second Test win against England in Visakhapatnam. Australia lead the table by a slender margin.
India beat England by 106 runs in the second Test in Visakhapatnam to level the five-match series 1-1. The hosts had dropped to fifth after a disappointing 28-run loss in Hyderabad.
The win on Monday has propelled India and seen their point percentage improve to 52.77. Australia is ahead on 55 point percentage. The top half of the table remains tight with five teams separated by just 5% in point percentage.
Under the pump, India saw great individual performances by Yashasvi Jaiswal (209), Shubman Gill (104) and Jasprit Bumrah (9/91).
More from Sports NewsHaving taken a 143 run lead from the first innings, Gill strengthened India's chances of a win in the contest. Having set a 399 run target, England saw fight by Zak Crawley (73), Ben Foakes (36) and Tom Hartley (36) but not enough to overhaul the steep total. England were eventually bowled out for 292 runs, with India winning by 106 runs.
The five-match series now moves to Rajkot for the third Test, starting 15 February.
