Gill takes spectacular one-handed stunner as India restrict Afghanistan to 194 despite Gurbaz onslaught: Watch

India captain Shubman Gill took a stunning catch at slip as his bowlers did a decent job to restrict Afghanistan to 194 in the rain-curtailed 25-over per side match in Dharamsala on Saturday, June 13.

Afghanistan reached to a good total thanks to a spectacular century from opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz who hit a 48-ball century, the fastest for an Afghan batter in ODI cricket. It was also the second fastest ODI hundred against India after Shahid Afridi's 45-ball ton in 2005 in Kanpur.

However, he did not get much support from the other end as Indian bowlers kept chipping away with wickets. Towards the end of the innings, Gill took a stunner at first slip to further boost the morale of the Indian side.

India captain was standing in slips hoping to wrap up the Afghanistan innings quickly and then came the opportunity which he grabbed in a stunning manner.

Allah Ghazanfar had just come to bat and faced only a single delivery. Harsh Dubey was bowling and he bowled a short ball to Ghazanfar which the batter tried to swing hard towards the leg side. He got an upper edge and the ball flew past the wicket-keeper. Gill in the first slip extended his left hand to catch the ball in a stunning manner.

Earlier, debutants Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar took three wickets apiece but Gurbaz's quickfire 102 powered Afghanistan to 194 in their rain-truncated opening ODI. The contest was reduced to a 25-overs-per-side affair due to relentless rain earlier in the day which delayed the start.

Dubey was slightly expensive but returned 3/47 from his allotted five overs while Brar remained consistent in his pace to return 4.5-0-27-3.

But it was the Afghan opener who dazzled with a 51-ball 102 which included eight hits to the fence and as many over it.
