Shubman Gill's jersey sells for record-breaking sum, more than Bumrah and Jadeja's jerseys

Shubman Gill's record-breaking run in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy continued off the field, as his signed India Test jersey fetched more than those of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Even England stars Joe Root and Ben Stokes' jerseys couldn't surpass Gill's auction price.

Shubman Gill had a dream run in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. He smashed a record 754 runs in the five-Test series and made his debut as India’s Test captain one to remember. The series ended 2-2 and will go down as one of the hardest-fought five-match battles in recent history.

Gill started the series with a bang as he scored a century in a losing cause in Leeds. However, Team India bounced back in Edgbaston, where Gill scored a double century and a century in the same match to help his team win and level the series 1-1. Gill scored one more century in the fourth Test at Manchester and ended the contest as the highest run-getter.

Meanwhile, Gill also made an impact off the pitch. In a charity auction for #RedforRuth, his jersey fetched the highest price. The signed India shirt worn by Gill was sold for GBP 4,600 (around Rs 5.41 lakh). Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah’s jerseys went for GBP 4,200 (Rs 4.94 lakh), KL Rahul’s for GBP 4,000 (Rs 4.70 lakh), and Rishabh Pant’s for GBP 3,400 (Rs 4 lakh).

Among the England players, Joe Root’s jersey fetched the most at GBP 3,800 (Rs 4.47 lakh), but this was still less than several of his Indian rivals. Ben Stokes’ shirt also sold for less than the Indian players. His jersey went for GBP 3,400 (Rs 4 lakh).

Mohammed Siraj and Washington Sundar's jerseys have been sold for GBP 1,600 (Rs 1.8 lakh) and 1,400 (Rs 1.6 lakh), respectively.

The jerseys that have been sold were worn by these players on Day 2 of the third Test match at Lord's. These jerseys were listed for the auction from July 10 to July 27 with price ranging between £120-£150 on the website.

This is the same match where India almost snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat with Ravindra Jadeja fighting hard to till the very end. India were on the verge of victory but the last wicket of Mohammed Siraj fell in a bizarre fashion and England managed to snatch a 22-run win.
