Rohit Sharma could be removed from ODI side, star all-rounder faces similar threat: Report
The future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will once again be a topic of discussion for BCCI selectors and reportedly Rohit Sharma is in grave danger.

Rohit Sharma is reportedly in danger of losing his spot in the ODI team as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gets ready to announce the squads for the series against Afghanistan. Besides Rohit, another legendary all-rounder is also in danger but may still be included due to the backing of the team management, as reported by the Times of India on Tuesday.
The Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection panel will be announcing the Indian squads for the one-off Test and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan on Tuesday.
BCCI to discuss Kohli and Rohit's future
The future of Virat Kohli and Rohit, who have retired from Test and T20I Cricket, will be on the agenda when the selectors meet. But with Kohli shining in the 50-over format recently and his fitness being in top gear, there's no chance the selectors will drop the former captain
The same, however, cannot be said about Rohit, who has been struggling with a hamstring injury for a while. According to the Times of India, Rohit Sharma's time with the Indian team is most likely "numbered if not over" already.
Legendary all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was recently dropped by his franchise Rajasthan Royals, is also facing a similar threat. But the good news for him is that Jadeja has the backing of coach Gautam Gambhir and other decision-makers.
Jadeja to stay in ODI World Cup plans?
However, Jadeja will also need to up his performances drastically to stay in contention for the 2027 ODI World Cup, the report added.
The selectors will also be taking a call on Hardik Pandya's return to the ODI side. He last played for India in this format in March 2025 and recently missed a few matches due to a back spasm issue.
In his absence, selectors could allow Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has done well as a bowler in IPL 2026.
