Nine-year-old bowling prodigy claims six wickets in a single over: 'It rarely ever happens'

A nine-year-old cricketing prodigy recently shocked his team and family members with his incredible bowling effort.

In modern cricket, record-breaking spells with the ball are not uncommon, but Rohan has achieved something truly extraordinary by claiming six wickets in a single over, a feat that defies expectations and sets a new benchmark for brilliance.

Nine-year-old Rohan claims a six-wicket maiden

Rohan, 9, was in action for the Under 9s team at the Great Shelford Cricket Club near Cambridge and completed a six-wicket maiden against Histon on Sunday. The bowler completed a double hat-trick in a single over, which helped his side win by 26 runs.

The people who witnessed the moment were cheering for the young kid as they ran on the pitch following his incredible spell. Rohan was rightly named the Player of the Match and was also presented with the match ball.

The young bowler spoke to the BBC about his achievement, saying that "It rarely ever happens."

"I play for my school team and Great Shelford. I joined when I was around seven," Rohan added.

Rohan's father expressed delight over his son's achievement

Rohan claimed the double hat-trick on Father's Day, and his dad Narain was present to watch his son claim the six-wicket maiden. The 54-year-old was spellbound after his son completed the feat, saying that it was "truly amazing" to witness.

"To get one wicket is a great achievement for someone so young, but wicket after wicket, I was so proud.

"Just him playing at the local cricket team was a great achievement.

"I don't think I realised how rare of an achievement it was," the nine-year-old's father added.

Lucas Green, the Under-9s head coach, said that the "other team were so happy" for Rohan and his teammates enjoyed the moment. He also revealed that everyone ran to the pitch after he claimed the sixth wicket, triggering a huge celebration.
