No victory parade planned for India women's cricket team 'as of now': BCCI secretary
The Indian women’s cricket team won its first-ever World Cup trophy on Sunday after beating South Africa in the final at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
No victory parade has been planned so far for the Indian women’s cricket team, which created history on Sunday by winning its first-ever ICC Women’s World Cup. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai to become the world champions for the first time.
Last year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had organised a massive open-top bus parade for the men’s team at Mumbai’s Marine Drive after they won the 2024 T20 World Cup. The celebratory bus parade culminated with a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium.

BCCI, however, is yet organise any similar parade or felicitation ceremony for the women’s team as the upcoming ICC meeting is on top of its agenda. The ICC meeting will take place from 4-7 November in Dubai
More from FirstcricketBCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has revealed to news agency IANS that the top board members are preoccupied with the ICC meeting and decisions regarding celebration plans would be taken after they return to India.
“Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now,” Saikia told IANS. “I’m leaving for Dubai to attend the ICC meetings. Several senior officials are heading there as well, so once we return, we will plan accordingly.”

The ICC meeting assumes more importance due to the ongoing standoff between the BCCI and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi of Pakistan. Naqvi has refused to hand over the Asia Cup trophy to the BCCI after facing a boycott from Team India during the presentation ceremony in the final in September.
The BCCI is set to raise the Asia Cup controversy with the ICC, which could eventually bring an end to the tussle.
“We will take up the Asia Cup trophy matter with the ICC and hopefully get our trophy back with the respect and honour it deserves,” he added.
