'BCCI need to take tough calls': Harmanpreet Kaur and Co face backlash after group stage exit from Women's T20 World Cup

India crashed out of the Women's T20 World Cup from group stage after losing to Australia in the final Group A match of the tournament on Sunday, June 28 at the Lord's in London.

Having already lost to South Africa earlier in the competition, India were in a do-or-die situation against Australia. However, the team could not turn up the intensity and lost the game by six wickets with an over to spare.

Fans targetted captain Harmanpreet Kaur with her leadership being deemed as one of the biggest reasons for India's failure. Read a few of these reactions below:

Harmanpreet is facing criticism despite having a brilliant night with the bat as she slammed a quickfire half-century to continue her good run against Australia. Her 27-ball 56 was the pick of the innings for India who reached a respectable 170-4 in 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues all scored thirties but none of them could convert it into a big innings.

Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner then hit half-centuries for Australia to help them chase the target down with an over still remaining. Australia thus won the game by six wickets and qualified for their 10th straight Women's T20 World Cup semifinal.
