Team India has suffered a big setback even before the UK tour gets underway on Friday. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will not be a part of India's T20I tour of Ireland and England due to a quadriceps injury.

Nitish Reddy of the Andhra team recently played two ODIs against Afghansitan, but he was forced to miss one of the matches in the three-game series due to a sore thigh.

BCCI on Tuesday said that Nitish will be sent for rehabilitation and has been replaced by Suryansh Shedge.

"Nitish reported left quadriceps discomfort after the third ODI against Afghanistan on June 20. Following a subsequent medical assessment, the BCCI Medical Team has recommended a period of rehabilitation, ruling him out of both T20I series," the BCCI said.

Nitish Reddy blow for Team India

After the two-match T20 series in Ireland from 26 June, the Men in Blue will also play a five-match series against England from 1 July. There's also a three-match ODI series after the T20 assignment and Nitish may return to the team by then.

Nitish's absence is a big blow to Team India as they only had two seam-bowling all-rounders in the squad. Apart from Nitish, Shivam Dube is the only other player capable of playing that role. Now, Shedge will have to play a big role if he is included in the playing XI.
