The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will execute a review of Team India's recent performance in T20 cricket. Shreyas Iyer, the newly crowned captain, had a disastrous start as captain after losing to Ireland and England in the T20 series.

On Friday, Team India were humbled by England in the fourth T20 match in Bristol after sealing an emphatic nine-wicket win, taking a 3-0 series lead. The Men in Blue are already coming off a historic series upset to Ireland, and the series loss to England adds to their woes.

BCCI: 'We are deeply concerned'

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia acknowledged that the board is concerned about the team's recent performance and confirmed that they would review with captain Iyer and coach Gautam Gambhir to understand how to rectify errors and ensure their stature as heavyweights.

India aims for consolation win in 5th T20 clash

Team India found themselves cornered after their latest defeat to England, slipping to a 0‑4 deficit in the T20 series. Captain Shreyas Iyer appeared bereft of strategy as the reigning back‑to‑back world champions failed to meet expectations.

After Belfast proved to be a nightmare, the England T20 series opener in Durham was marred by rain, and Old Trafford exposed their bowling frailties with Ravi Bishnoi’s costly spell. A collapse to 76 all out in Nottingham and another comprehensive defeat in Bristol further highlighted India’s struggles.

It marked the longest winless run for Team India since they began playing T20 International cricket in 2006, and they would be desperate to seal a consolation victory in the fifth and final T20 match on Saturday at the Rose Bowl at 07:00 PM IST.
