It’s safe to say that India are in a spot of bother at the moment, as Axar Patel (8 off 12) becomes the latest batter to depart! Bangladesh aren’t out of this contest yet! The in-form Iyer departs right after playing a late cut that fetches him his second boundary, mishitting a cutter towards mid off after giving Mustafizur the charge. Bangladesh skipper Najmul has to pedal backwards for a bit to complete the catch. Iyer had escaped a run-out on nought, but didn’t quite make the most of the reprieve as he departs for 15 off 17. Gill brings up his 16th ODI half-century with a single in the final ball of the 25th over. It’s a muted celebration at the moment as the job is far from done at the moment, and the 25-year-old will be hoping to stay at the centre till the end. India need 107 to win off 150 balls with 8 wickets in hand.

Kohli had just broken the shackles by collecting his first boundary of the evening off Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 22nd over. The batting star, however, departs just four balls later as he slices a length ball straight to Soumya Sarkar at backward point. He departs for 22 off 38 balls as India lose their second wicket. Overs 11-20 has been all about steady accumulation of runs for the Men in Blue with just one boundary coming during this phase – off Shubman Gill’s bat. Rohit’s dismissal has slowed India down. However, the fact that they aren’t chasing a big target like Pakistan against New Zealand in Karachi on Wednesday is a comforting thought for India. IND 101/1 after 20

The umpire signals for drinks to be brought to the field at the end of the 17th over, at which point India are sitting pretty at 91/1. Shubman Gill is currently batting on 39 off 45 deliveries, and has assumed charge after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal.

India skipper Rohit Sharma’s (41 off 36) entertaining knock comes to an end as he depart for 41, getting caught by Rishad near backward point after a mishit – sending the ball high in the air off the toe end of the bat while looking to play inside out over extra cover.

The ‘Hitman’, however, leaves the Men in Blue in a decent position with India 69/1 after 10 overs.

Gill collects the first maximum of the innings, and boy is it a monster hit – measuring 98 metres that lands on the second tier beyond midwicket! It was a short-of-length ball from Tanzim, who is introduced in the ninth over, and Gill executed the kind of pull shot that even Rohit couldn’t help but admire. IND 65/0 after 9

Top start for the Indians in their chase of the 229-run target set by the Bangla Tigers in Dubai, as they move past fifty without losing a wicket with two overs still to go in the powerplay. Rohit brings up the milestone with a four, steering a length ball behind square and threading the gap between point, backward point wonderfully. Soumya Sarkar runs to his right from third man and isn’t able to cut the ball off despite putting in a slide.

The ‘Hitman’ collects a single nevertheless, and Shubman Gill collects the first boundary of the innings two balls later with a short-arm pull through midwicket.

Mustafizur Rahman bowls from the other end and he begins on a tidy note by conceding just a single. IND 6/0 after 2
