Gujarat Titans players survive massive scare as team bus suffers short circuit after IPL 2026 final against RCB

Gujarat Titans players escaped a massive scare after the defeat in the IPL 2026 final as their team bus caught fire following the game at Ahmedabad. According to reports, the fire was sparked due to a short circuit in the bus, but thankfully, no major harm was done.

The incident took place late Sunday night when the bus was carrying the players back to the hotel from the Narendra Modi Stadium. All players and support staff members are unhurt and safe. They were stranded on the road for a while before another bus was arranged.

Gujarat Titans' bus catches fire

According to The Times of India, the team bus of the Gujarat Titans was filled with smoke after a short circuit and the engine broke down, forcing players to evacuate it.

They were reportedly stranded on the road for an hour.

GT lost the IPL final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by five wickets.

Gujarat Titans, who won the title in their debut season 2022, were hoping to clinch their second IPL trophy, but it was RCB who won their second title.

GT were asked to bat first, and they failed at the job, scoring just 155 runs as Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler failed in the big match. Their brittle middle-order also failed to put up any real fight, barring Washington Sundar, who made 50 off 37 balls.

RCB's Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Rasikh Salam Dar were the pick of the bowlers with seven wickets among themselves.

Bengaluru's chase was marshalled by their biggest star Virat Kohli, who scored 75 not out, and found support from Venkatesh Iyer (32) and Tim David (24).

"Well, it’s the stuff that you dream of. I’ve thought of this moment many times, that, you know, once when we win the IPL, I should be standing there hitting the winning runs and tonight it was possible. So yeah, just a dream day for us," said Kohli after winning his second IPL.
