Chennai Super Kings host Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the afternoon fixture of the Indian Premier League double header on Sunday, 26 April. CSK will be aiming to inch closer to the top four with a second consecutive victory and a fourth win in their last five outings while GT will be hoping to get back on their feet after suffering back-to-back losses.
Ahead of the CSK vs GT showdown at Chepauk, we take a look at the team that is likely to win the upcoming contest:
CSK vs GT: Match Prediction
CSK vs GT Winner Prediction: Chennai Super Kings
Based on current form, one would have to lean towards Chennai Super Kings and back them to collect a third win in four outings. While the five-time champions have suffered a major blow in the form of a season-ending injury to Ayush Mhatre – who was their leading run-scorer until recently – star batter Sanju Samson's return to form with two centuries in his last four outings is great news and has been a key factor behind their mid-season resurgence.
CSK are also coming off a dominant 103-run victory over fellow five-time champions Mumbai Indians, having bowled them out for a paltry 104 after setting them 208 to win at the Wankhede Stadium and it was the left-arm spin-pair of Akeal Hosein (4/17) and Noor Ahmad (2/24) that played a key role in dismantling the MI batting lineup.
GT, meanwhile, have had a stop-start season so far and have lost their last two games – against Mumbai Indians (99 runs) at home and against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (5 wickets) away. And while one cannot rule out a fightback from the Shubman Gill-led side, their confidence will certainly have taken a hit this past week.
