Naked body, bloodstains & more: How Delhi techie was found dead in Mussoorie homestay

P Radha Gayatri, a 27-year-old software engineer, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday (June 15). The newlywed female software engineer was holidaying with her husband, Soumya Shricharan, at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti Road, Uttarakhand.

Gayatri had checked into the homestay along with her husband on Saturday (June 13) night. The couple had tied the knot on November 8, 2025, and their families originally hail from Visakhapatnam.

Gayatri, a resident of Kidwai Nagar in Delhi, was working for an information technology firm in Gurugram, while her husband, also a techie, is based in Pune, according to the police.

The circumstances surrounding her death have sparked a police probe, with officers piecing together the evidence while waiting for forensic and post-mortem findings to explain what precisely happened inside the homestay.

What happened on the night of June 14?

Gayatri and her husband, Sricharan, had travelled from Delhi to Uttarakhand on Saturday (June 13), police said. The couple first spent time in Rishikesh before reaching Mussoorie on the night of June 14. Both checked into a room named "Bliss" at around 11.30 pm.

According to her husband's account, he and his wife consumed alcohol during the night and went to sleep at around 3:30 am. However, hours after Sricharan woke up, he witnessed a disturbing scene. He told investigators that Gayatri was found lying unconscious on the floor of the room, with blood coming from her mouth and nose.

He immediately thereafter alerted the homestay management, and by the time medical services reached the spot, Gayatri was declared dead.

Where does the investigation stand?

Police received an emergency call around 7:30 am on Monday (June 15) that a female guest was unconscious. Investigators, along with medical personnel, reached the spot. They analysed the evidence in the room and discovered several items that are now being scrutinised.

Devendra Chauhan, station officer (SO) of Mussoorie police station, said, "Upon receiving information, a police team rushed to the homestay, and an ambulance was called. However, when the medical team examined the woman in the ambulance, she was declared dead," the Times of India (TOI) reported.

According to police, Gayatri was found naked inside the room, with bloodstains on the bedsheet. Authorities also found two empty liquor bottles and other material evidence from the scene.

The forensic team also visited the spot and collected the evidence. Gayatri's husband, as well as the homestay staff, are being interrogated as part of the probe. Officials are probing the case from every angle and have not ruled out any possibilities.

Police have sent the body to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun, where a detailed post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place today (June 16).

Gayatri's family has been informed about the incident, and no complaint has been filed by the family so far, police said.

Police officials, however, have not yet found and revealed any signs of violence or struggle. Investigators have not indicated any suspected cause of death.

The investigation is underway from every angle to unearth what happened inside room "Bliss" on the night of June 14.
