The Jana Nayagan fiasco

The release of Jana Nayagan, touted as Thalapathy Vijay’s last film before he transitions into politics full time, has been pushed back once again, with fresh reports confirming that the film will not hit theatres before April 30, 2026. The delay comes amid ongoing certification hurdles, mounting industry concerns, and a sensitive political backdrop in Tamil Nadu.

CBFC tussle remains the main roadblock

The biggest reason behind the delay continues to be the  film’s ongoing certification process with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The examining committee has reportedly raised objections over certain political references and narrative elements, leading to multiple rounds of review. As of now, the makers are locked in discussions with the board to resolve the concerns without compromising the film’s core storyline.
