And once again, the Duchess of Sussex has made headlines for the wrong reasons. We are talking about Meghan Markle, and the backlash that came her way after she paid a visit to the survivors of the Bondi beach terror attack with her husband and Duke of Sussex Prince Harry. Recently, the former royal couple began their time in Sydney at Bondi, where 15 people were killed in the 14 December terror attack.

Markle's outfit that she wore during the visit to the survivors had been featured on the site OneOff, but the AI-fashion platform has removed the outfit following severe backlash. Netizens accused Markle of trying to cannibalize the sensitivity of that moment to meet her own ends. The ensemble included a $420 blue and white striped Matteau shirt, $159 white 'sailor jeans' by Rollas, and an $895 navy cashmere sweater from P Johnson Femme.

What Prince Harry said

“After my mum died just before my 13th birthday, I was like: ‘I don’t want this job. I don’t want this role – wherever this is headed, I don’t like it,” said Prince Harry. He added, “There have been many times when I’ve felt overwhelmed.”

When Harry and Meghan relinquished their titles

At the time, Harry and Meghan released a lengthy online statement announcing their decision to step back from royal duties, one that, critics now argue, contained barbed language aimed at the institution itself. The most contentious passage asserted that the late Queen held “no jurisdiction overseas over the word ‘Royal,’” implying that the couple could use it freely despite official objections.

Observers say the tone of the statement, which emphasized Harry’s birthright as an HRH and sixth in line to the throne, was unusually combative. “It read less like a farewell and more like a challenge to royal authority,” one palace source said, describing it as “unnecessary and deeply personal.”
