Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 Review: TVF show is entertaining, honest and riveting!

Deeply rooted in the Hindi heartland, Prime Video and TVF's show, Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 will leave you in fits of laughter, till the time your tummy hearts.

As Gram Chikitsalay made its return for a new season on Prime Video, it's time to revisit the journey that unfolded in Bhathkandi. What happens when an overachieving city doctor, armed with a gold medal and zero street sense, lands in a village that has little need for his expertise? The story continues from there as Dr Prabhat Sinha (Amol Parashar) earns the trust of the villagers despite all odds. No high-voltage drama, but the point this web series makes is powerful and unequivocal.

This Prime Video series, in a very humorous way, shows the harsh realities of the medical conditions in the villages of India. And why villages? Even in many city hospitals there aren’t enough facilities for surgeries or enough medicines. This is, in fact, the reality of the medical system of our country. And adding to the misery of the people of Bhathkandi in Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 is a quack doctor played by Vinay Pathak.

As the show reflects on the pathetic condition of the Primary Health Center (PHC) in a village, we realise how privileged we are, and yet we keep complaining. Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 also reflects how politicians, along with some dishonest doctors, are often involved in this racket of selling medicines that should be given for free to the patients.

Gram Chikitsalay is indeed unapologetically honest, addressing the misgovernance in the bravest possible way. As Dr. Prabhat (Amol Parashar) struggles with basic health care facilities in the village for his Primary Health Center, he finally gets advice from Dr Gargi (Akansha Ranjan Kapoor) that earning the coveted “Adarsh PHC” title is the key to solving his problems. Dr Prabhat soon discovers that success demands far more than medical expertise and a well-run health center. With eccentric villagers, mischievous local politics, deep-rooted skepticism, and never-ending resource woes keeping him on his toes, will Dr Prabhat be able to find the perfect cure for Bhathkandi’s problems? That is the big question mark.

Amol Parashar, Vinay Pathak, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Akash Makhija, and Anandeshwar Dwivedi are excellent in their respective roles. This show once again proves that for good content and a good script that touches the heart, you don’t need stars; you just need good stories and brilliant craftsmen, and TVF’s Gram Chikitsalay has all of these. Though many a time, I found the script thinning out, but it was worth every bit of your time. I loved the connection with Panchayat too. Binge watch it or just sit through all the episodes at one go, but don’t give it a miss.

Everything looks authentic in TVF’s Gram Chikitsalay from the setting to the performances of each and every actor. Everybody is true to their characters. The series gives time for the characters to evolve, and the makers have done justice to each and every role by allowing it to grow and not lose its essence. Just like Panchayat, TVF’s Gram Chikitsalay has proved it yet again that for stellar performances you don’t need stars. All you need is honesty in your work.
