'Cocktail 2' Box-Office Collection: Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's rom-com crashes by 64%, collects Rs 6.35 on day four

Cocktail 2 released in cinemas this Friday and opened to mixed reviews from critics. Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rashmika Mandanna's was anticipated to be a queer love story but turned out to be another love triangle from the kitchens of Bollywood. It did well in the first three days but has crashed by 64% on Monday.
Here are the four-day collections of the film directed by Homi Adajania so far:
Day 1: Rs 13.50 crore
Day 2: Rs 16.25 crore
Day 3: Rs 17.75 crore
Day 4: Rs 6.35 crore
Total: Rs 53.85 crore
The film's makers shot a significant portion of The Sicilian Chapter in Sicily, Italy's largest island, known for its dramatic coastline, ancient ruins, volcanic landscapes and postcard-perfect towns.
Where exactly is Sicily?
Sicily sits at the southern tip of Italy, separated from the mainland by the narrow Strait of Messina. Because of its strategic location in the Mediterranean, the island has been shaped by Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman and Spanish influences over thousands of years.
The result is a destination where Greek temples, Baroque churches, Arab-inspired architecture and Italian piazzas coexist within a few hours’ drive of one another.
The trailer that failed to leave a mark
Cocktail back in 2012 was a menage-a-trois about Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. It marked Padukone’s 2.0 as an actor who could power even middling scripts. The narrative of the rom-com turned too screechy and melodramatic post interval but producer Dinesh Vijan revealed at the trailer launch of the sequel this one is a breeze.
What the trailer offered
The trailer (and also the film) follows the same template that made the first film work in 2012- A lot of style, sea, and sexiness dripping from every frame of the exceptionally extravagant enterprise. But the promo also reeks of hollowness with barely any scene registering. It may be too early to judge since this is just the tip of the iceberg.
