Third-generation Audi Q7 unveiled with redesigned styling and three seating choices

Audi has unveiled the third-generation Q7, which will sit between the Q5 and the upcoming Q9 in the German automaker’s SUV portfolio. The new Q7 replaces the second-generation model after an 11-year lifecycle. Among the key updates are a new six-seat configuration with second-row captain’s chairs, in addition to the existing five-seat and seven-seat layouts.

Audi Q7 Exterior Design

Audi has extensively revamped the Q7’s styling, giving it a more muscular and upright stance while incorporating design cues from newer SUVs such as the Q3. The front fascia now features split headlamps, with slim daytime running lights (DRLs) incorporating pixel-lighting elements, while the main Matrix LED units are positioned vertically within gloss-black housings. The large front grille adopts a honeycomb pattern and is finished with a satin-silver surround.

At the rear, the design is highlighted by a split tail-lamp setup, a roof spoiler, and an illuminated Audi motif. A chunky bumper finished with gloss-black and satin-silver accents further enhances the SUV’s road presence.

Audi Q7 Interior Design

Inside, the new Q7 features Audi’s familiar triple-screen layout, with the central infotainment display angled towards the driver. The cabin combines a variety of premium materials, including generous use of wood and leather trim across the dashboard and door panels.

The wood-finished centre console closely resembles that of the Q9 and houses wireless charging pads, the engine start-stop button, an electronic parking brake, a rotary controller, and controls for the hazard lights, 360-degree camera system, and other vehicle functions.

The new-generation Q7 comes standard as a five-seater but can optionally be configured with either six or seven seats. In the seven-seat configuration, boot space is rated at 581 litres with all three rows in place.

Powertrain

The third-generation Q7 will support a range of mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. For now, Audi has disclosed details of a single 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. The SUV comes equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard.

The diesel engine will be offered in two states of tune. The entry-level version produces 245 hp and 500 Nm of torque, while the higher-spec variant delivers 299 hp and 630 Nm.

The engine is paired with a mild-hybrid system that can provide an additional boost of up to 24 hp and 370 Nm, aiding acceleration and overtaking performance. Interestingly, the powertrain is compatible with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a renewable diesel fuel that can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 95% compared with conventional diesel.

Orders for the third-generation Audi Q7 are expected to open globally soon, with deliveries scheduled to begin in September 2026.
