Nissan reveals Tekton launch timeline; Here’s when the SUV will break cover

Nissan is set to re-enter India’s midsize SUV segment with the upcoming Tekton, a feature-packed Duster-based SUV debuting on July 9

Nissan India has announced that it will debut the Nissan Tekton on July 9. The SUV’s unveiling will mark the carmaker’s return to the midsize SUV segment after the discontinuation of the Nissan Kicks a few years ago.

The Tekton will share its underpinnings and powertrains with the Renault Duster. These include a 100hp, 166Nm, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 163hp, 280Nm, 1.3-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol unit.

A 6-speed manual transmission will remain standard for both engines, while the more powerful unit will also be offered with a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox. It remains to be seen whether the Duster’s 160hp, 172Nm, 1.8-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine, paired with an e-CVT, will also be offered.

The Tekton’s design draws inspiration from Nissan’s flagship Patrol SUV. Since it shares its platform with the Duster, it features similar styling elements such as flared wheel arches, black trims on the front doors, and rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar. Its alloy wheels are expected to feature a unique 18-inch design. Other highlights include connected LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a dual-tone rear bumper design. However, unlike the Duster, the tailgate is expected to have a single-tone finish.
