Mercedes unveils its all-electric C-Class with up to 762 km range, advanced AI-powered tech, and a sleek aerodynamic design

Mercedes has unveiled the all-new electric C-Class EV, based on a dedicated platform with new updates to its powertrain, range, design, and onboard technology. The car will be initially launched in the US, with a rollout to other markets later.

The new C-Class features a 94 kWh battery pack with an 800V electrical system. Mercedes has claimed a WLTP range of up to 762 km. The C 400 4MATIC produces 360 kW, which can add up to 325 km of range in 10 minutes of charging. A two-speed transmission on the rear axle further helps the all-new C-Class balance acceleration and efficiency, while rear-axle steering enhances sharper handling. The new C-Class has a boot capacity of 470 litres along with an additional 101-litre frunk. The car also offers a towing capacity of 1.8 tonnes.

Inside the vehicle, the 39.1-inch MBUX unit integrates multiple displays. The infotainment system runs on Mercedes’ MB.OS and supports over-the-air updates. The car also includes an AI-based virtual assistant and navigation that factors in charging requirements.

The model also gets features such as a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, multizone climate control, and electrically adjustable seats with memory function. Mercedes has also equipped the vehicle with multiple driver assistance systems supported by cameras and sensors.

Exterior Design Changes

The new electric C-Class features a coupe-like silhouette with a sloping roofline. The front is adorned with an illuminated grille and a central Mercedes star, along with LED headlamps that integrate multiple lighting functions. The DRL features star-shaped elements, in line with the lighting signature seen on newer Mercedes models such as the S-Class, CLA, EQS, and GLC EV.

The star-shaped tail lamps and rounded design further accentuate the rear-end styling. The reduced drag coefficient, starting at 0.22, further improves efficiency and range. Mercedes has not offered an official word on whether the vehicle would launch in India or not.
