Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG on the horizon? Here’s when it might launch in India

With the increasing demand for sub-4-metre SUVs that are easy on the pocket, along with dwindling EV sales, car manufacturers are now exploring new prospects to capture demand. In a similar pursuit, Mahindra is planning to unveil the XUV 3XO compact SUV in an all-new CNG variant, as revealed by an Autocar Report. With this new launch, Mahindra joins a segment that is already replete with CNG powertrains.

The upcoming CNG kit will pair with the base 1.2-litre MPFI petrol unit, closely mirroring setups in rivals like the Tata Nexon iCNG. The new CNG variant is likely to break cover by late 2026 or early 2027, as per Autocar India’s report. Mahindra’s first passenger CNG SUV will challenge the Tata Nexon CNG and Maruti Brezza CNG.

Powertrain options

The XUV 3XO range is currently powered by a slew of engine options. These include a 1.2-litre MPFI turbo petrol engine, which produces 110 hp and 200 Nm of peak torque. The car also has a 1.2-litre TGDi petrol engine, which produces 128 hp of power and 230 Nm of peak torque. Beyond these, there is also an option for a 1.5-litre diesel engine with manual or automatic transmission.
