BMW has revealed the final date on which the all-new BMW F450 GS will be breaking cover. As per a social media post, the new addition to the lineup will be unveiled on April 23. The F450 would stand out from the current crop of motorcycles thanks to its twin-cylinder engine. The adventure segment is right now dominated by a myriad of single-cylinder options.
The F450 GS debut comes after its global showcase. The new 420 cc platform, with low weight along with accessible performance, suggests that BMW is targeting riders who want an ADV without stepping into heavier or more expensive territory.
New Features and Setup
The new hardware setup and features clearly indicate the dual purpose of the bike. The bike runs on 19-inch front wheels and 17-inch rear wheels and is paired with long-travel suspension and a 178 Kg kerb weight, which would help in off-road conditions. Braking includes 310 mm front and 240 mm rear discs with dual-channel ABS, while electronics cover traction control, multiple riding modes, and engine braking control.
The new 450 would also get a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, with navigation and call functions. The bike would also have a 14-litre fuel tank and adjustable seat height.
Engine and Performance
The BMW F450 GS is designed around a new 420cc parallel-twin engine and produces about 17–18 hp and 43 Nm of torque. BMW Motorrad has claimed the approximate weight of the bike to be around 175–178 Kg. The bike also gets a 6-speed gearbox and other features such as a quickshifter as well as eBay ride clutch on higher variants. The BMW F450 GS is expected to be priced in the Rs 4 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh range, placing it above single-cylinder rivals like the already established Royal Enfield Himalayan and closer to twin-cylinder ADVs.
