Best phones under Rs 50,000 (May 2026): Poco X8 Pro Max, Realme GT 7 Pro to iQOO 15R

When shortlisting phones under 40K last week, there were surplus options to choose from. Unfortunately, we had no such privilege when looking for the best under Rs 50,000 at the moment. Some of our usual suspects have become more expensive and crossed the 50K mark or are out of stock currently. Thankfully, we managed to find five real good options for you to choose from. Here are our top smartphone picks under Rs 50,000 this month.

Best phones to buy under Rs 50,000 in India

Realme GT 7 Pro

Though the stocks are dwindling, the Realme GT 7 Pro (review) remains one of the most powerful phones in this segment courtesy of Qualcomm’s previous flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. You can still get its 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant in this budget. It has a 6.78-inch QHD+ 10-bit LTPO AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 6500 nits of peak brightness. The HDR10+ and Dolby Vision compliant screen is protected against scratches by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The phone has IP69-rated ingress protection.

Realme GT7 Pro

It hosts a large 7600 mAh Silicon Carbon battery to facilitate longer gaming sessions and comes with a 100W fast charger for a brisk topup. It also supports bypass charging, if you do not want to stress your battery during the extra-long gaming sessions.

The iQOO 15R has a 6.59-inch 10-bit AMOLED display with a resolution of 2750 x 1260 pixels and 5000 nit peak brightness. The HDR10+ compliant screen flaunts 144 Hz refresh rate. This phone is meant for gamers rather than photography enthusiasts and has a functional camera department at best. You get a 50MP primary camera with OIS, supported by an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 32MP selfie camera, both without auto-focus. The Poco X8 Pro Max (review) is powered by a flagship grade Mediatek Dimensity 9500s SoC, and you can get its top variant with 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB UFS 4.1 storage in this budget. It has a vibrant 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution and support for 12-bit colour, 120 Hz refresh rate, 3500 nits peak brightness and HDR10+ and Dolby Vision compliance. The display is protected against scratches by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

Poco X8 Pro Max

The Poco X8 Pro Max has a massive 9000 mAh battery for longer gaming sessions, and can last for three days of moderate use without gaming. The bundled 100W turbo charger promises a brisk topup. The phone also supports reasonably quick reverse wired charging and also bypass charging. The photography department consists of a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide shooter at the back, with a 20MP front camera taking care of selfies and video calls. This Poco phone runs the latest Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 with four major OS updates promised. This rugged phone has IP69-rated ingress protection.

OnePlus 13R

Ideally the OnePlus 15R should have been in this list, but it’s price has jumped way beyond 50K. Having said that, the 13R isn’t too bad either in this budget and with quite a few bucks to spare. The OnePlus 13R is powered by Qualcomm’s former flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which is still competent, and you can get 12 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage to go with it. Its 512 GB variant seems to be out of stock at the moment. A 6000 mAh battery keeps the phone powered for two days of moderate use and the bundled 100W charger juices it up fully in under an hour.

The OnePlus 13R has a sharp 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO4 AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The HDR10+ and Dolby Vision compliant screen supports 10-bit colour depth, 120 Hz refresh rate and 4500 nits peak brightness. The phone now runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, with three more major OS updates promised for this phone in due course.

The photography department on the OnePlus 13R is better than that of the 15R and also the Nord 6 (which we briefly considered), courtesy of a 50MP telephoto camera in addition to the other two. Though modest, the 2X optical zoom is more than handy in portrait photography too. Other than that, you get a quality 50MP primary camera with OIS that does a good job in varied lighting. An 8MP ultrawide camera and a 16MP selfie camera are useful at best.

Google Pixel 9a

Just like the OnePlus 15R, Google Pixel 10a should have been in this list. But given that there are no significant differences between that and its predecessor, why bother paying extra for the same phone. Might as well buy the Pixel 9a for a good 10,000 Rupees less while it’s still available. Both phones are powered by Google’s previous flagship Tensor G4 chip, and you get 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage to go with it.

The Pixel 9a sports a sharp 6.3-inch Full HD+ P-OLED HDR display with 120 Hz refresh rate and 2700 nits peak brightness. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and the phone has IP68-rated ingress protection. You now get the purest version of Android 16 with the Material 3 Expressive design language and AI tricks, and Google has promised six more major OS updates for this device, which is great.

Pixel phones are also known for their camera quality, and the Pixel 9a doesn’t let you down in this department. It captures some high quality shots, courtesy of a 48MP primary camera with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degrees FOV. They do a great job in different lighting and modes. The 13MP front camera clicks some neat selfies too.
