Mbappe gives straightforward opinion on the Messi-Ronaldo GOAT debate: 'Everything opposes them'

Kylian Mbappe has issued his verdict on the hotly debated Messi vs Ronaldo GOAT debate, highlighting that both athletes are exceptional but in very different ways.

The Messi-Ronaldo rivalry has been one of the most fiercely debated topics among modern-day football fans to determine who is the best footballer in the world. The duo lit up El Clásico fixtures with their competitiveness, making it one of the most thrilling player duels in the game's history.

Speaking to Sorare, Mbappe said that the critics who dismiss Ronaldo's talent or Messi's work ethic have no idea of the reality of professional training. He added that their differences are what made the GOAT rivalry so compelling.

“That is something said by someone who has never put on boots to train every day. If you can tell me Ronaldo has no talent or Messi hasn’t worked, you have never trained a day in your life.

“They are truly different. Everything opposes them: right foot, left foot, tall, short. That’s what made the rivalry so good,” Mbappe said.

Mbappe also opened up on the opponents he would be keen to face in the upcoming FIFA World Cup and named Ronaldo straightaway, as he believes it would be the last appearance of the Portuguese striker.

“I think it will be his [Ronaldo's] last. Or Neymar’s. After this, they won’t be able to play it anymore,” the French forward added.

Mbappe and the French football team would kick off their hunt for a third World Cup title after coming agonisingly close in 2022. They will open their group-stage campaign against Senegal on Wednesday, June 17, at the MetLife Stadium in NY/NJ.
