Kylian Mbappe has been left out of Real Madrid’s squad for the crucial El Clasico clash against FC Barcelona. The big La Liga match is scheduled to be played at Camp Nou early on Monday morning at 12:30 AM IST.

Mbappe was expected to play some minutes from the bench against Barca, but according to Spanish media reports, he has been left out of the travelling squad. As per Diario AS, he could not complete the final training session because of physical discomfort and the medical and coaching staff, after several checks, decided not to take any risk with the French star.

The absence of Mbappe is a major setback for Real Madrid as they need a win against Barcelona to keep their La Liga title hopes alive. Losing or drawing the match could hand Barcelona a huge advantage in the title race.

Real Madrid are already dealing with several injuries and suspension problems ahead of the big clash. The team will also miss important players like Federico Valverde, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao and Arda Guler.

Meanwhile, there were concerns among fans and Real Madrid supporters that Mbappe was not taking his rehab seriously after being spotted with his new girlfriend going on a yacht holiday. Some even accused the French forward of saving himself for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

There were also reports suggesting a rift inside the Real Madrid dressing room, with the relationship between senior players allegedly reaching a fragile state. This has also been compounded by the fact that Real Madrid got knocked out of the UEFA Champions League early.
