The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally taken note of the Riyan Parag vaping controversy after the RR skipper was caught in the act inside the team dressing room during the Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals IPL 2026 match on Tuesday.

As per the report in The Indian Express, a BCCI official said that the cricket board has asked for an explanation from Parag for his actions, as vaping is not allowed.

Riyan Parag using a vape in the dressing room could have much more consequences than expected. Apart from the BCCI's inquiry, he could be involved in a major legal battle for owning and using an electronic cigarette, as India has banned vapes under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.

If a person is found guilty of possession or use of the electronic device, he may face imprisonment for up to six months, a hefty fine, or both.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals had also been embroiled in a major controversy earlier at the start of IPL 2026 after team manager Romi Bhinder was found using a mobile phone in the dugout during a match.

Romi was fined Rs 1 lakh and handed an official warning by the BCCI.

Coming to the cricketing action, the Rajasthan Royals defeated the Punjab Kings by six wickets, handing them their first defeat of the season. RR will be back in action at home when they face the inconsistent Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
