Princess Gauravi Kumari and Sawai Padmanabh Singh, representatives of Jaipur royal heritage, have made their Met Gala debut this season in Prabal Gurung designs. Their fashion leaned towards royal elements, history, Jaipur craft, and nothing excessive.

Who is Princess Gauravi Kumari?

Princess Gauravi Kumari was born in 1999. She is the second child of Diya Kumari and Narendra Singh. Gauravi is a part of Jaipur’s youngest royal generation.

She has completed her schools in Mayo College Girls’ School in Ajmer. After which, Gauravi headed to the US to study media and communications at New York University, the NewsX reported.

She made her debut at Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris in 2017. Since 2019, Gauravi has been doing charitable work as the General Secretary of the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation.

In 2021, she co-founded the PDKF Store with French designer Claire Deroo and, most recently, collaborated with Anita Dongre on a showcase called Rewild 23.

Who is Sawai Padmanabh Singh?

Singh has been considered a modern-day king and scion of the Jaipur royal family. He is known for his prowess in the game of kings, polo. He is also recognised for his lavish lifestyle and global fashion flair.

His great-grandfather was the last ruling Maharaja of the princely state under British rule. Singh is the 303rd descendant of the royal family of Jaipur. According to reports, he is just 27 years old and owns a property worth 20,000 crore.

He has left a remarkable mark on the international polo circuit. His passion for the sport has taken him across the globe, where he has played alongside notable figures such as Prince William and Prince Harry.

His name was featured on Forbes' 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2018 for his prowess on the polo field.

Met Gala 2026

Met Gala took place on May 4, 2026, following its long-standing tradition of being held on the first Monday of May. For viewers in India, that translates to the early hours of May 5, with the red carpet kicking off around 3:30 am IST.

The 2026 theme, titled “Costume Art”, explores the relationship between fashion and the human body as a form of artistic expression.

The dress code, “Fashion Is Art”, encouraged attendees to treat their outfits like wearable art pieces, drawing inspiration from movements like surrealism, classical art, and beyond.
