On Friday, the Labour Party clinched a landslide victory in Britain's general election — ending the Conservative Party's 14-year rule.

In his first speech after winning the polls, Keir Starmer vowed  that "change has begun."

Born to a toolmaker father and a nurse mother, Starmer is a former human rights lawyer turned chief prosecutor for England and Wales.

He was knighted for his role leading the Crown Prosecution Service.

Starmer says he loves soccer and enjoys nothing more than watching his Premier League team Arsenal over a beer at his local pub.

He and his wife Victoria, who works in occupational health, have two teenage children they strive to keep out of the public eye.

Starmer's critics call him "uninteresting" and claim he "lacks any real connection to the public due to his knighthood."

But few can deny that the 61-year-old Starmer has led the Labour Party out of the wilderness and back to power.
