Having a period for the first time can be daunting. At such a time, when children reach out to their parents, many of them find the big "period talk" to be an awkward experience.

Well, it doesn't have to be if you do it right.

Start by choosing an appropriate time and place, ensuring privacy and calmness. Use easy, age-appropriate language to explain the biological process. Also emphasise the importance of hygiene, while reassuring them that they can always come to you with any concerns or questions.
