Xi Jinping’s visit to Vietnam
China and Vietnam have a border in common, as well as close economic ties and ruling communist parties, but Chinese president Xi Jinping's two-day trip will be his first visit to the country in six years.
After an official welcome at the presidential palace on Tuesday, Xi will hold talks with Nguyen Phu Trong, the leader of Vietnam's ruling communist party.
On Wednesday, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the mausoleum of revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh, before Xi meets Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Vo Van Thuong.
BJP to announce the name of Rajasthan’s next CM
To end the long-suspense over the chief minister of Rajasthan, the saffron party has called a legislature meeting today to pick a leader for the top job.
Mahant Balaknath and Kirodi Lal Meena, who were being considered for the CM post, have opted out of the race.
Two-time CM Vasundhara Raje, whom many newly elected MLAs continue to meet at her residence, continues to be a formidable leader for the post.

The COP28 summit is headed into its endgame on Tuesday.
The talks in Dubai have highlighted deep international divisions over the future role of oil, gas and coal that are complicating efforts by nearly 200 countries to hash out an agreement before the summit's scheduled end on 12 December.
Biden to host Zelenskyy
US president Joe Biden will host his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Tuesday amid stalled discussions on a Kyiv aid deal in Congress.

This will be Zelenskyy's third visit to Washington since Russia launched its ongoing war against Ukraine in February 2022.
ED summons Hemant Soren
The Enforcement Directorate has issued fresh summons to Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren for questioning in a money-laundering case linked to an alleged land scam today.
Notably, this is the sixth notice issued to Soren, but he never deposed as he filed a petition before the Supreme Court and later the Jharkhand High Court seeking protection from the ED action.
Imran Khan, Qureshi to be indicted in cipher case
Jailed former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and ex-foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi would be indicted again today in the cipher case for allegedly leaking a diplomatic cable.
A Supreme Court hearing
The top court will examine plea if asking an accused to share location with investigators through mobile phone as bail condition violates the fundamental right to privacy.
For those unversed, in a landmark decision, a nine-judge Constitutions bench on 24 August 2017 unanimously declared that the right of privacy was a fundamental right under the Constitution.
Lanka T10 set to kick off
The first season of the popular T10 will be played starting today to 23 December 2023.

Dalai Lama’s visit to Sikkim
Tibetan spiritual leader the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, arrived in Gangtok on Monday morning for a three-day visit to Sikkim after a gap of 13 years.
He will impart teachings on the “Thirty-Seven Practices of Bodhisattvas” during his stay in the Himalayan state.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone will hold a board meeting today to consider a proposal to raise funds through the issue of non-convertible debentures and issue or renew preference shares on private placement or preferential basis.

Consumer Price Index Data for November 2023 will be released today. The report is expected to bring more evidence of cooling inflation.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation will release the industrial production data for October will also be released later in the day.
