PM Modi’s Day 2 in Israel

Today marks the second day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to Israel, where he will hold several high-profile diplomatic and memorial engagements in Jerusalem.

Firstly, he will visit Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Centre, to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. Following this, he will hold bilateral discussions with the Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the President’s Residence.

US-Iran to hold talks

The United States and Iran are scheduled to convene in Geneva, Switzerland, for a critical third round of diplomatic negotiations aimed at resolving the escalating nuclear standoff. The meeting, facilitated by Oman, follows two previous rounds of indirect talks held earlier this month in Muscat and Geneva.

The Iranian team is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US delegation is headed by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The primary focus remains Iran’s uranium enrichment and the potential lifting of US sanctions. Iran has firmly stated it will only discuss its nuclear programme, ruling out talks on its ballistic missile arsenal or regional proxies.

Court of Appeal rules on Jimmy Lai fraud case

The Hong Kong Court of Appeal is scheduled to deliver its ruling on Jimmy Lai’s appeal against his 2022 fraud conviction.

In December 2022, Lai was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison for fraud. The case involved a contractual dispute regarding the lease of the headquarters for his now-defunct pro-democracy newspaper, Apple Daily.

This appeal ruling follows the heavy sentence handed down on February 9, 2026, where Lai received 20 years in prison for separate national security offences, including "conspiring to collude with foreign forces".

Hillary Clinton to testify on Epstein files

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee as part of a congressional investigation into the files of late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

While most depositions in this probe have occurred in Washington, DC, her session has been scheduled to take place in Chappaqua, New York. Clinton has denied any personal links to Epstein, stating she never met him, and has publicly challenged Republicans to hold the hearings in public.

Ukrainian negotiators to meet with US representatives

Ukrainian negotiators and US representatives are scheduled to meet in Geneva, Switzerland, today to hold high-level discussions aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian delegation is led by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council. The US side is represented by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The meeting serves as a "preparation" for an upcoming trilateral summit involving Russia, which is expected to take place in early March.

Negotiators will explore frameworks for a potential peace deal, following previous rounds in Abu Dhabi and Geneva that ended without a breakthrough on territorial issues. Ukraine is reportedly seeking a 20-year security guarantee commitment from the US as part of any final settlement.
