Shekhar Suman returns with new talk show Shekhar Tonite, Trailer out; WATCH

After years away from the format that once made him one of Indian television’s most recognisable faces, Shekhar Suman is returning to conversational entertainment with Shekhar Tonite — a digital-first talk show that promises candid, unscripted conversations over carefully manufactured celebrity appearances.

The trailer of the show was unveiled recently through a large-scale outdoor and digital campaign, instantly bringing back memories of an era when Shekhar Suman’s wit, satire and conversational ease had become a defining part of Indian television. Long before podcasts and celebrity chat formats flooded the internet, Suman had carved a niche for himself through sharp humour and emotionally layered conversations.

‘The Voice Is Back’

Positioned as a raw and instinct-led conversation format, Shekhar Tonite aims to move away from heavily rehearsed interviews and focus instead on emotional honesty and spontaneity.

Speaking about the show, Shekhar Suman said, “For me, Shekhar Tonite is not about celebrity interviews. It is about human moments. The conversations that stay with us are never the rehearsed ones. They are the pauses, the unexpected laughter, the silences, the things people reveal when they stop trying to appear perfect.”

He further added that over the years, he realised the most memorable conversations emerge when people forget there is a camera around them.

“After all these years, I wanted to return to a space where conversations can breathe again, where emotion matters more than performance, and honesty matters more than presentation,” he shared.

Adhyayan Suman calls it ‘the return of an era’

Interestingly, the show has been created by Adhyayan Suman, who described the project as deeply personal.

“This is about witnessing the return of an era, an artist, a voice and a presence that shaped conversational entertainment in this country,” Adhyayan said.

Calling his father “a legend”, he reflected on growing up watching Shekhar Suman’s command over humour and celebrity conversations.

“People remember his wit, his monologues and his command over conversations. I grew up watching that magic from the sidelines, and it stayed with me,” he said.

Adhyayan also thanked producer Dharmesh Sanghani and collaborator Ritika Bajaj for supporting the vision of the show.

A digital-first unscripted format

Produced under the banners of Sangani Brothers and Cobbled Street, Shekhar Tonite will feature personalities from films, politics, sports, business and music in free-flowing conversations that blend humour, satire and emotional moments.

Producer Dharmesh Sanghani described being part of the show as special because of Shekhar Suman’s legacy.

“The warmth and command he brings into a room is rare, and the love people still have for him is proof of a legacy that cannot be manufactured,” Sanghani said.

He also praised Adhyayan Suman’s creative vision, adding that audiences are yet to fully witness his abilities as a storyteller.

Shekhar Tonite is set to premiere on May 15, 2026, with new episodes releasing every Friday on Shekhar Suman’s official YouTube channel.
