With Rs 15.21 crore on its first day, the Vikas Bahl directorial became the 2nd biggest opener of the year after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter (Rs 24.60 crore).

Ajay Devgn's 5th biggest opener

The film also emerged as the fifth biggest opener of Ajay Devgn's career after Singham Returns (32.09 crores), Golmaal Again (30.14 crores), Total Dhamaal (16.50 crores) and Drishyam 2 (15.38 crores).

It surpassed movies like Article 370 (Rs 25.45 crore) and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs 26.52 crore), to emerge as the second-highest opening weekend grosser with around Rs 56 crore after Fighter (Rs 115.30 crore).

Shaitaan has also emerged as the 7th highest opening weekend grosser of Ajay Devgn after Golmaal Again (Rs 87.60 crore), Singham Returns (Rs 77.69 crore), Son of Sardaar (Rs 66.02 crore), Drishyam 2 (64.14 crore), Tanhaji (Rs 61.75 crore) and Total Dhamaal (Rs 62.40 crore).

R Madhavan's highest first-weekend grosser

R Madhavan, who played the titular character in the movie, got his highest opening weekend grosser beating 3 Idiots (Rs 40.65 crore) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns (Rs 38.15 crore).

Jyotika's first Bollywood hit

25 years back, Jyotika made her screen debut with the Bollywood film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, which turned out to be a disappointing affair at the box office. However, with Shaitaan the actress made a great comeback.
