Aamir Khan’s Rang De Basanti, which released in 2006 and also starred Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, and Soha Ali Khan, went on to become a commercial success and critical triumph. But do you Shahid Kapoor was the first choice for the role of Siddharth? And he has said this at least twice he regrets turning down the role, one on Neha Dhupia’s show and the other time in an interview with Rajeev Masand.

He has been quoted saying, “They wanted me to play the role Siddharth did. I cried every time I read the script but just couldn’t make time for it.” Apparently the actor didn’t have dates for the part.

Shahid Kapoor is indeed a doting dad to his kids Zain and Misha Kapoor. The Udta Punjab actor often shares interesting glimpses of his little munchkins, depicting their beautiful bond. While Shahid and Mira Rajput became parents to their first child, daughter Misha in 2016, they later welcomed their second child, son Zain in September 2018. Just like any other parent, Shahid Kapoor’s life also changed a lot after becoming a father. One of the major changes that he embraced was quitting smoking after his daughter was born.

Rakesh Mehra, the director, also spoke about Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan saying no to the role and revealed in an interview- "Hrithik Roshan was spoken to for Karan's role. He loved the script but didn't have the time. Shah Rukh was approached for Ajay Rathod's role. I pursued him for a while. But the dates didn't work out. With Shah Rukh, you don't question too much. We share a healthy relationship."

During his recent appearance on Neha Dhupia’s popular chat show ‘No Filter Neha’, Shahid Kapoor recalled how he used to hide from his daughter for smoking; however, later decided to give up his habit for Misha.

“When I used to smoke, I would hide from my daughter and do it. That is actually the reason I gave it up. One day when I was hiding and having my smoke, I told myself that I was not going to do this forever. That was the day when I finally decided to quit smoking,” he said.

‘A lot of changes have come’: Shahid Kapoor

This is not the first time that the actor has spoken about his children. Once, Shahid opened up about how his life changed after becoming a father. Earlier during an interaction with RJ Siddharth Kannan, the actor said, “I am sure a lot of things change and it is difficult to put into words. I feel the change now that I am a parent.
