Shah Rukh Khan's Dear Zindagi passed with no cuts; gets a U/A certificate by CBFC

Filmmaker Gauri Shinde's second directorial venture Dear Zindagi has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A certificate and no cuts.[caption id="attachment_3106158" align="alignleft" width="380"] A screengrab from Dear Zindagi[/caption]While the role of the CBFC is limited to certify, it has always been under the scanner for censoring films on grounds of obscenity, violence and possibilities of hurting religious or community sentiments. However, given the slice of life film that Dear Zindagi is, it was expected to be cleared by the Board without any cuts.DNA reports that the film has indeed been passed with no cuts. It also quotes a source close to the film saying, "There is not a single cut, verbal or visual. The Board actually said it would be a crime to cut even one shot from the film. They also singled out Shah Rukh Khan as the A-list actor with the least censorial intervention required in his films."Both the lead actors of the film, Khan and Alia Bhatt, encountered the CBFC's scissors in their last films. Khan's film Fan, directed by Manish Sharma, faced various cuts including six audio cuts and a video cut, according to a report by International Business Times. On the other hand, Bhatt's last outing Udta Punjab was the focal point of controversy when the CBFC passed the film with an `A' certificate and several cuts.Shinde's directorial debut English Vinglish was as clean as it could get. Her husband, R Balki who is a co-producer of the film, has had a clean track record too. All his directorial ventures including the most recent one, Ki & Ka, were passed with no cuts. Though there were multiple kissing scenes involving the two lead actors in the film, the CBFC passed it, stating that intimacy between husband and wife is normal.Dear Zindagi is slated to release on 25 November.
